Marshal Lane Morgan keeps the peace in Skylar, Colorado, even when those efforts send him into a headlong confrontation with Paul Webley, the most powerful man in town. Trent Webley got drunk and shot up the town, almost shooting Lane in the process. As a result, Lane feels he has no choice but to bring the young man up on charges. However, Lane also goes out of his way to ensure that Trent Webley is only going to have to lay out a few months in jail. The sentence is actually much reduced from what it could be. Paul Webley refuses to accept that and tries to buy Lane off. When that doesn't work, Paul concentrates on the marshal's wife, Callie. Three years ago when Callie came to Skylar and began to teach, she had a past that she didn't speak of, and every so often Lane would see a haunted look in her eyes. He never asked about that past and just contented himself with loving her. But that past catches up to the marshal and his pretty schoolmarm wife with a vengeance as Paul Webley puts the pressure on. David Staunton, a visitor to Skylar, turns out to be a womanizer, a con artist, and a gambler. Years ago, though, Staunton was also Callie Morgan's husband. While they were together, Staunton swindled a woman out of a lot of cash and used Callie to do it. When the law came after them both, Callie fled, and a warrant for her arrest followed. All these years, she's been a fugitive. And now the marshal has to find out who really killed Staunton before his wife gets hanged for it.
Ed Gorman is a prolific writer of mysteries, westerns, thrillers, and horror. His Sam McCain series, about a soft-spoken guy who is a part-time lawyer and part-time private eye, has garnered a lot of critical acclaim and a wide audience. He's also edited several anthologies. Fans of mysteries will want to track down copies of his Jack Dwyer series, and fans of westerns will be interested in the three books he wrote about Leo Guild, a bounty hunter filled with guilt and confusion.
In all the books that Gorman writes, readers can depend on frantic pacing, true-to-the-ear dialogue, suspense, and a depth of character that is not immediately noticeable but seeps into the tale with incredible ease. In RELENTLESS, the author presents Lane Morgan's love for his wife Callie in straightforward terms, but also with the confusion that such a situation would present for a man whose world has just been turned upside down. Gorman fills Morgan world with people and places, as well a history of Skylar, Colorado and Morgan's own personal backstory. The book is a perfect page-turner, one that will keep the reader engrossed and zipping right along.
Western readers who like a bit of mystery mixed in with a fairly true picture of the Old West will enjoy RELENTLESS. A FRESH APPROACH TO THE WESTERN LAWMAN!!!!

Marshall Lane Morgan is an honest man in the town of Skylar, Colorado. He believes the law applies to everyone in town, both rich and poor. Paul Webley tries to bribe Lane with an envelope filled with greenbacks in hopes the marshall will not press charges agains his son Trent, who while drunk, tried to kill Lane. Failing at the bribe, Webley resorted to looking in to the past of both Lane and his wife Callie. Webley tries to blackmail the marshall with information that Callie had been previously married to a confidence man and a gambler. But Lanes's troubles are only beginning when Callie's ex-husband Stanton is found murdered in his hotel room and Callie has blood stains on her blouse. Callie is not the only likely candidate for Stanton's murder. After resigning, Lane must determine who killed Stanton to clear Callie's name. In RENTLESS, Lane is not your typical western lawman relying on his gun. Instead, Lane uses his gun as a last resort. RENTLESS is a fresh approach to western lawman story telling and Ed Gorman does this as well as any writer in the genre.

Ed Gorman’s Relentless Western Noir

With Relentless, Gorman transcends the Western genre akin to what writer Jack Schaefer did with Monte Walsh and film director Robert Altman accomplished with McCabe & Mrs. Miller. No mythological posturing between these pages but real individuals on the edge with seemingly no way out. Ernest Hemingway said, “When writing a novel, a writer should create living people; people not characters. A character is a caricature.”

Ed Gorman writes living people. Their hopes and dreams and the high costs of turning a blind eye to social justice. Relentless doesn’t have a lot of action per se but that makes sense in this noir Western that eschews fabled clichés and instead builds strong, riveting passages in the formation of these desperate lives.

Not as good as the first two...

I picked up the Betsy Taylor series on a whim at my local bookstore, and I adored the first two. The second book wasn't quite up to the par with the first, but they were completely hilarious and fun. The third book is still rather funny, but it is disappointing.

In it, Betsy discovers that she has a half-sister, who happens to be the daughter of the devil all while dealing with the Book of the Dead and her evil pregnant stepmother. Things get a little complicated with Sinclair, and she's having some trouble with her newly acquired night club Scratch. And that's about it. No, seriously, that's it. There isn't any kind of driving force behind the plot; it just kind of ambles along. I think with the other books there was a defined plot, and this one is just lacking it.

I have to agree with other reviewers who have called this a "filler" book between publishing dates because that is certainly how it appears. Don't get me wrong...there are some funny scenes, but they are kind of spread out to far. And, you get the impression while reading the book that you're really not going anywhere.

Overall, I recommend it because it's an okay book, but I just hope the next one will be better. Grade: C+ (3.5 stars)

Not as good as the others but still rather charming

This series is about Betsy Taylor, a young woman who knows more about good shoes that anyone else. Unfortunately, in the first book, she dies suddenly, but quickly returns as queen of the vampires. As she rises, she is filled with rage as she realizes her stepmother has planned to bury her in cheap shoes. The story goes from there. It is very, very funny in places (though a bit raunchy, unfortunately, also). In the second book, we find Betsy looking for a job and going to work in a shoe department in a nice store. In this book, we find her tracking down a long lost sister who may be a threat to the entire world. Well, it is a lot weaker in plot than the others, but still has a certain charm. While I did not care for it so much, I will certainly read the next one.

Well, it wasn't as good as the first two - entertaining but disappointing, and I didn't think it was worth the hardcover purchase - better off to wait for the paperback unless one is a die-hard fan. Just for the sake of completeness, I'll probably buy the next installment due out in October, but I will definitely wait for the paperback. The plot was rather weak and did not make a great deal of sense, and Betsy was ditzier than usual. I won't spoil the plot for those who haven't read it; it kinda copped-out to a harlequin-type romance, though, towards the finish and I was left at the end of the day staring into the distance with what I am sure was a puzzled look on my face saying 'what? what?' and thinking that that was four hours of my life that I'll never get back.

I read this book as a teenager and it still stays in my head and heart........I bought this for women friends who were going through rough times; they love it

This book was a comfort to me after the loss of mother.

I lost my dearest friend, my mother, in 1966. She died suddenly and I was totally grief-stricken. I found I was unable to grieve in the proper way.

At the time of the funeral, my Pastor's wife gave me this book for comfort. Little did she know how she helped me.

The section entitled, "The New Dimension" became the prayers I prayed both for me and my mother.

When I read "The Message", I smiled through my tears, It was as if she knew my mother and had been in her house! She wrote such wonderful memories.

The second paragraph reminded me that my mother too, was ready to go Home, just as if she was ready to go to church on Sunday.

"The Lesson of Loss" reminded me that there were those who were ready to comfort me if I would let them. My grief became easier

to bear and my tears started me on the healing process.

"Be Still and Know" helped me realize that my mother was healed now and no longer suffering.

And "The New Dimension of Love" thrilled me in knowing that I would see mother again in heaven.

I am now a Pastor's wife and I have tried to find this book to give to several of our congregation who have suffered loss.

I triumphed over my grief with the simple prayers and passages in this book. I want to share it with anyone who has suffered a loss, especially of a mother.

Thank you, Marjorie Holmes, for giving me strength.

A Wonderful Book

I first found this book (an earlier edition)on my mother-in-law's nightstand after she died, and loved reading it. I have since rediscovered it and have already ordered 11 copies to read and give to my friends. I'm ordering another 5 to give to more friends.
The book has a wonderful way of helping you look at everyday events, and see the blessings in everything. It reminds us that we can always go to God - whether the need is great or small, or just to praise him for our blessings.

Love, marriage, and death, greed and all the usual suspects

This volume is the 10th in the series about Dame Frevisse, a nun in the 15th century. It's a series best read in order - there is a lot of background in each book, and the regular characters' lives develop and change; some behavior of the characters is puzzling if you don't know the background. So, if this is the first book in the series that you are coming across, through a recommendation, for example, let me recommend that you also search for the others, starting with _The Novice's Tale_.
The "conceit" of this series set in the 1430's is that our fictional heroine, Dame Frevisse, is the niece of the genuine person Geoffrey Chaucer, author of _The Canterbury Tales_ (ISBN: 0140440224). This liberty on real history allows Frazer to convey a lot of the times, and to give her heroine a connection to the rich and famous, even though Dame Frevisse is a nun in an out-of-the-way convent. Among other things, knowing that this is Chaucer's era tells us that the middle ages are over, and the Renaissance has begun; in only a few more years, the printing press will be invented. Already, more people are literate than in previous centuries, although that's still a tiny number of people, and women are somewhat more individuals in their own right, although still quite subordinate to men. Also, the format of the Canterbury Tales also gives us the format for the titles of the books in this series, with each story being named as the Tale of a particular character.
To me, these things make the 15th century easier to relate to than, say, the 12th Century, where Ellis Peters' Brother Cadfael series is set. Brother Cadfael's world is alien enough to ours that it is sometimes difficult to really get into the stories, the motivations of the characters, and so on, although nonetheless I love that series. But I like the Frevisse series even better, because it is slightly more accessible - I can relate better to the characters, and therefore find the plots somewhat more understandable and believable.
In the 12th century, Stephen and Matilda fight over who is to rule England - both of them not figures that are really familiar to us, with the average US reader's grasp of history. However, by the 15th century, a Henry of the Tudor family is king, Henry VI, and most of us have at least some acquaintance with that dynasty. Likewise, by the 15th century, the ongoing war between England and France has taken on fairly familiar contours, with names we've heard of, such as Orleans and Burgundy. So one doesn't have to expend quite as much mental effort figuring out the country, and there's more leisure to enjoy the story. This may be one reason I enjoy this series even more than the Brother Cadfael stories. (Wonder what I'm referring to? Try "A Morbid Taste for Bones: The First Chronicle of Brother Cadfael" by Ellis Peters, ISBN: 0446400157.)
At this point in the series, the nunnery is relatively stable, earning some money by copying books and by schooling a couple of girls, and with almost enough food and supplies again. The time being Lent, the nuns are not eating during daylight hours, though, and the ongoing details about what constitutes fasting are interesting. This book starts out, though, in the home of Robert Fenner, a character we first met in an earlier book. Fenner is married to a woman older than he is; he also has wardship of a young lady almost old enough to be married off herself. Marriage in this era is about property, and arguments between Robert and his wife Blaunche over property whose ownership is disputed are at the heart of the story. Blaunche wants Katherine, the ward, to marry her son Benedict; Robert brings Katherine to stay at the convent for a while until he and his wife can cool off over the issue. I will not give away more of the plot; it's for you to discover and enjoy. I will mention a few little details that may induce you to start reading or keep reading, though: Domina Elisabeth, the (relatively) new prioress, seems to have acquired a cat. We learn a lot more about Dame Claire's herbal medicines. A couple of lawyers provide dry humor at one point, talking legal cases over the dinner table in a manner that seems entirely familiar today. Dame Frevisse finds herself telling bedtime stories to young children.
In the end, despite deaths and betrayal, there is a bit of happiness and true love. It's very satisfying. I won't necessarily say that this is the "best one yet" - I'd have trouble picking a favorite, but I do give a slight edge to those volumes in which Frevisse has run-ins with Bishop Beaufort, who is not present in this book (thankfully, to Frevisse's way of thinking...) But it's definitely a read-straight-through.

another brilliant Dame Frevisse mystery novel

Seven years ago, Robert Fenner, a young squire in the service of Sir William Fenner, caught the eye of Lady Blaunche Fenner. Lady Blaunche stood high in Sir William's regard, and so Robert, the younger son of another landless younger son, was given a choice: marry the already twice widowed Lady Blaunche or starvation. Now, in 1444, Robert faces a bitter choice of another sort: war with the Allesleys or going against his strong minded wife's wishes.
The Lady Blaunche, has for all these years, retained in her possession lands that should have rightly been returned to her first husband's family, the Allesleys, upon his death. This however Lady Blaunche refused to do and she and Robert have been enjoying the income from that estate all this time. Now however, the Allesleys are demanding the estate back as well as recompsense for all the income lost over the years. Robert would like to resolve the dispute by surrendering the lands, thus avoiding any bloodshed. Lady Blaunche however is passionate in her resolve to hold onto the lands. Trouble for the Fenners however has also arisen from another quarter. Robert and Blaunche have been taking care of a rather rich orphan, Katherine Stretton, and she is now of an age to marry. In fact, the book more or less opens with an attempt by a neighbour to abduct Katherine, and Robert's successful thwarting of the scheme. Lady Blaunche now wants to marry Katherine off to her eldest son, Benedict; Robert however is oppossed to such a scheme, and sends Katherine to St. Frideswide for safety until he can resolve his problems with the Allesleys and negotiate a good marriage for Katherine.
And this is how Dame Frevisse finds herself embroiled in the affairs of the Fenners. She would rather spend her time in the nunnery, in prayer and quiet contemplation, especially as it is now near Lent. But when Lady Blaunche arrives with news that it is now safe for Katherine to return, Domina Elisabeth asks Dame Frevisse to accompany Katherine home. It soon becomes evident that Lady Blaunche has some plan up her sleeve concerning Katherine. Robert has successfully resolved things by promising Katherine's hand in marriage to Allesley's son, and Blaunche is not happy at all. Dame Frevisse is soon caught up in the swirling passions that surround the Fenner family, passions that lead to murder...
This suspenseful novel made for engrossing reading. The novel may seem (on the surface anyway) to have been drawn out too much, but this was not so. This book was spun out for just the right length, to tweak your interest and involve you totally in the Fenner family and their doings. And all the characters were so deftly fleshed out that you saw all sides of a character, and so were able to get more involved in the novel -- for example it would be easy to dislike Lady Blaunche, but Margaret Frazer also gives her a vulnerable side that the reader can relate to easily. This novel also gives you a very good idea of how things stood in 15th century England, under a young boy king -- the seemingly calm eventhough there may be a power shift going on behind the scenes. I especially liked the glimpses of the daily rountine that nuns went through.
Margaret Frazer is a masterful tale spinner, and this book is a testament to her brilliance. Definitely a 5 star book.

It's not Gary, Indiana, but it is the long lost home sweet home of the Charles family. Now that she's been left the estate, it's the town Gillian Charles owns, or will if she lives there six months. Rolling with the punches, she agrees to the terms of the will, moving into the executor's, Sam Law, house while he housesits for his parents. It's love at first sight, for her and his dog; maybe for the two humans as well. It's already assumed that they are in love, can reality be far behind? However, there is a sinister foe lurking, waiting for their chance to end all of Gillian's hopes if she gets in the way.

** There's a bit of everything in this novel; sensuality, humor, and suspense, but with so much, the overall effect shortchanges each aspect. **

I absolutely loved it!

Sweetheart, Indiana is a wonderful town and a wonderful book! The characters are rich and warm, the setting true and as comforting as your favorite blanket, and the story itself filled with everything a reader could want--some sass, some laugh-out-loud lines and a touch of suspense. Gillian is not your average socialite and I found myself warming to her from the first page. Sam Law is, in a word, delicious, and I can't wait for his brother's book! All around, a great read with depth and wit!

I read the whole thing. There are gaps in the storyline. Huge chunks of time pass and you have to figure this out. AND the lead woman character is PERFECT. Perfect looking, speaking, every action is perfect. She doesn't make any mistakes- she is not human! The guy is great- at least he shows some humanity. Save your money, save your time for better books. This was a dud.

Greg McPartlin is a former Navy SEALs medic who served a year in Vietnam just as the war was escalating. He is the owner of McP's, a SEAL hangout bar in Coronado, California.

U.S. Navy SEAL Medic

This is a very readable and informing memoir by a past Marine and eventual Navy SEAL Corpsman, better known as "Doc" to all those broken in combat he mended.

The majority of the book tells of his service in Vietnam during the mid to late 1960's, with the west coast branch of SEALS. Most SEALS were only stationed in country for 6 months at a time, for as the author states, the constant intensity could dull their senses, and that could cost them their lives. The North Vietnamese put bounties on all these "green faced men" hoping to kill a SEAL whenever possible. The bounty was both a tribute of their respect for the SEALS but also a sign of their deep-seated fear of the SEALS.

I was leaving the Navy to come back for college at about the time Greg McPartlin was entering the Navy. So some of the topics he talks about are very familiar to me, but a reader does not need to be "prior service" to read and enjoy this book.

In a review written for The Military Book Club recently, I stated that this book is one of very few excellent books it's been my good fortune to encounter. His story and that of his fellow SEALS will give the reader an insider's view of the "above and beyond" nature of service all these men gave, and each of these individuals are true heroes in the best sense of the word. Though undoubtedly each would not find that a compliment with which they are comfortable. They, for example, would turn down a Purple Heart award, unless they were terribly wounded. No rear echelon types here; however that may be, all of these men are some of the finest to ever wear the uniform of the United States.

Only two items would have made this a stronger book: a good map of Vietnam showing the area Mr. McPartlin describes; and a few pictures of all the men in his group. But that not withstanding, this is a very readable and memorable book written by a combatant as seen through the eyes of a medic. A truly unique writing from one who not only took lives, but saved lives.

The toughest of the toughest

If Navy SEALs are considered the toughest combat troops in the US forces, then their corpsmen have to be the toughest of the toughest. Here is the story of a young man's search for significance and adventure played out in the crucible of Vietnam. Young men like Mr. McPartlin are America's greatest asset. That there are such men in an the modern age of cynicism and distrust is nothing short of amazing. As the legendary Col. John Boyd was fond of reminding us, "machines don't fight wars, people do, and they use their minds." Upon reading this book, one would add "the toughest use their heart."

In this book, Mr. McPartlin takes us to the heart of the warrior code. Along the way he applies that code not just to a passion for battle but a passion for the lives of his fellow warriors as well as the enemy combatants he finds in his care. Here is the epitomy of an American warrior hero. Mr. McPartlin represents the kind of American warrior we all wish we could be - courageous, tough, and yet without loss of compassion. The toughest of the tough are those willing to care in the face of hopeless and impossible situations. Once you start the journey with Mr. McPartlin, you will want to carry on to the end.

AN AWAKENING!

This book found me. I was not exactly looking for a good book to curl up with. As a matter of fact, I was not looking for a book at all! I was shopping for my home when I found this book laying with some discounted cook books on display. My father was a combat medic in Vietnam at the same time the author was. I had lost my father 6 months prior to finding this book in 2009. Spooky, but true. Anyway, It peeked my curiosity and I bought the book. A TRULY AWESOME BOOK!!!! Those of you who are retired service men and women of the Vietnam war or have family members who have served in Vietnam who cannot talk openly about experiences of the war and who have suffered with PTSD for many years (as did my father who never openly spoke of his experience). This book gives a vivid depiction AND understanding of what it was like there. I highly recommend this book to anyone!

What could have been a good book ruined by a literary device

I'm a big reader of forensic studies of crime, but this one hits a new low in clunky formats. Lee (with co-author LaBriola) reviews a number of famous cases, including the murders of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman, the JonBenet Ramsey case, the Lindbergh kidnappingm, the Sacco and Vanzetti trials and more. Lee and LaBriola's analysis of the cases themselves are intriguing, but why, oh why did they feel it necessary to encumber the book with the fictional character of one "Sam Constant?" This "dream" character materializes to draw Lee back in time to visit the older cases, or in the more recent ones, to deliver his opinion as the voice of the General Public. It's a terrible device, blundering and awkward, badly written, and in the end manages to make the authors look foolish and takes away from their veracity as scientists.

Famous Crimes Revisited: From Sacco-Vanzetti to O.J. Simpson

Dr. Henry Lee is Chief Emeritus of the Connecticut State Police Forensic Science Laboratory and has extensive credentials. He investigated over 6,000 major crime cases. Dr. Jerry Labriola is an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut Medical School and has practiced medicine for over 30 years. He is an experienced writer. "Sam Constant" is a fictional character who expresses the sentiments of the time. The `Prologue' explains the style of writing for this book, a way to journey to past events and comment on them using the latest scientific knowledge. The authors believe the same technical and judgmental errors continue to this day (p.xiv). External factors affect the legal process. This book has no index.

Section 1 deal with the Sacco-Vanzetti case, both were executed for a robbery-murder they most likely did not commit. There was a "highly unusual" trial for a lesser crime prior to a major crime (p.33). Vanzetti was delivering fish to his customers at the time of the crime (p.41). The head of the Massachusetts State Police believed they were innocent (p.43). Boston agents of the Department of Justice believed the crime was the work of professional gangsters (p.49). There were problems with eyewitness evidence (Chapter 5). There was tampering and suppression of evidence (p.64). Chapter 6 discusses the ballistic evidence, and the lack of a chain of custody. Both the shells and bullets could have been tampered with (pp.78-79). Vanzetti's revolver was not the guard's gun, he was framed (pp.90-91). The claim of "consciousness of guilt" seems to be a euphemism for prejudice (p.91). Sacco & Vanzetti lied about their activities to hide their anarchistic beliefs. Reporters thought the trial was not fairly and impartially conducted.

Section 2 covers five famous flawed cases. Edmond Locard noted the existence of trace evidence (p.103). The footprints outside the Lindbergh home were not measured, photographed, or cast in plaster (p.113). There were no fingerprints anywhere in the nursery (p.114)! A year later some of the ransom money was traced to Bruno Hauptmann (he entered the country illegally and had a criminal record in Germany). Hauptmann's writing was similar to the writing on the ransom note, but document examiners for the Secret Service and Army say Hauptmann did not write the ransom notes (p.118). [This is not an exact science.] Dr. Lee has 24 questions about this case (pp.126-129). One question should be about the pajamas worn by the baby; whoever had them was the kidnapper. Dr. Sam Sheppard was convicted due to commercial rivalry and prejudice. Coroner Gerber was out to get "the Sheppard clan", whose suburban hospital competed with the Cleveland Hospital. Dr. Paul L. Kirk's 1954 examination of the murder scene (after the trial!) documented the facts [Paul Holmes' 1961 book].

The assassination of JFK was never solved, Oswald was neither convicted or even indicted. David Wrone's "The Zapruder Film" explains why Oswald was in the doorway when the first shot was fired, and two films from across the street show nobody at that 6th floor window. [George O'Toole's 1975 book "The Assassination Tapes" provided the evidence to reopen the investigation. The "magic bullet" was not recovered at the crime scene, but was found (or planted) at Parkland Hospital (p.152). Was Vincent Foster a suicide or murder victim? There are arguments for each theory (pp. 175-177). The Starr Report said suicide (p.165). Was JonBenet Ramsey killed by an intruder or insider? The arguments for each theory are on pages 177-178. It is still unsolved.

Section 3 discusses the O. J. Simpson trial. OJ went from a sports hero to a reviled villain in just a few weeks. Has this ever happened before? There was racial bias over the trial and verdict, the facts weren't important! Nicole Brown Simpson's 911 transcript is on pages 189-195. No one was assaulted or arrested but it made people believe OJ was guilty. [Was this tamer than some Jerry Springer shows?] The grand jury was cancelled because they refused to indict OJ for murder; then they used a preliminary hearing to indict OJ. Chapter 1 does not mention that Nicole's boyfriend was about the same size and age as Ron Goldman (mistaken identity?). Chapter 2 has discrepancies in the time line from other books. Fuhrman found a still wet glove at 6am (p.207). There were problems in falsification of a legal document, and mishandling and/or fabrication of evidence (p.211). The Fourth Amendment bans illegally obtained evidence. This safeguards people against government intrusions (pp.212-213). There were conflicts in the testimony of Vannatter and Fuhrman (p.217). The coroner said the time of death was after 11pm (p.219). Two different types of stab wounds were found. Where was the bloody clothing, shoes, and murder weapon (p.219)? Why was a bloody glove placed in the backyard?

Chapter 4 deals with the trial. Robert Shapiro assembled a "dream team" of experts for the defense (p.226). The defense said evidence that exonerated OJ had been disregarded (p.228). Evidence collection did not always follow protocol (p.229). There were problems in the evidence that suggested planting (p.230). The use of videotapes from this highly publicized case provided evidence on the procedures (p.231). Dr. Lee has 16 questions about the facts in this case (pp.238-239). [The answer to #16 may be that the Bronco was parked there after the limo drive exited.] Chapter 5 discusses the opposing viewpoints of the major evidence in this trial. There were many examples where the prosecution claims did not match what the defense experts observed (p.243). The 'Epilogue' explains how public opinion (manufactured by the media) affects a trial. There was suspicion of evidence suppression, tampering with evidence, perjury, and destruction or falsification of records (p.250). While science has advanced, fallible human beings can still make errors.

The 'Appendix' discusses the past, present, and future of forensic science. It provides an outline for the general reader. [The paragraph on "voice-prints" may be outdated.] The 'Bibliography' contains the names of books and articles on the seven cases in this book. [It does not list James Neff's "The Wrong Man", or "Killing Time" by Donald Freed and Raymond Briggs.]
